LETTER: Plymouth is continuing to grow in the right direction
A recent letter to the editor from Plymouth resident Greg Laden highlights the momentum building around Plymouth's City Center vision — including $5 million in state funding secured for the City Center Redevelopment and Revitalization project, alongside recent safety improvements on Plymouth Boulevard.
Laden also credits the city's approach to fiscal stewardship, noting that Plymouth has kept taxes low while making smart, forward-looking investments in infrastructure — a shift from a more anti-tax posture in years past that left the city leaving state and federal dollars on the table.
Laden wrote that he was convinced Plymouth is headed in the right direction:
"I had coffee and conversation the other day with council members Kimberly Nelson and Clark Gregor and was convinced that this is the direction my city will continue to grow, and that makes me happy."
He also looked ahead to what a thriving City Center could mean for Plymouth's identity:
"I look forward to the day when if a newcomer asks, 'Where are all the great restaurants and shopping areas in Plymouth?' the best answer is no longer 'We have two: Maple Grove and Minnetonka!'"
