I'll work to protect our water, air, and natural resources — and help Plymouth save money and prepare for the future along the way.
A Record of Results
Clark served four years on Plymouth's Environmental Quality Committee, including as chair, and led the launch of the Plymouth Environmental Academy — a program that helps residents and property owners find practical ways to reduce costs and their environmental impact, from lake-friendly lawn care to home energy savings.
On the council, Clark has helped Plymouth take real steps forward:
Launched citywide compost collection, giving every household an easy way to keep food waste out of the landfill
Expanded electric vehicle charging infrastructure, helping prepare Plymouth for how people will get around in the years ahead
Supported solar installations on city buildings, including fire stations and city hall — cutting energy costs for taxpayers over the long run
Helped develop an energy action plan, looking for practical ways to reduce energy use and costs in city operations
Climate Action Plan
The biggest step is one that's nearly across the finish line. Over the past year, Plymouth has been developing its first Climate Action Plan — with input from community listening sessions held across the city, and review by the Environmental Quality Committee, Planning Commission, and City Council. The plan looks at practical ways Plymouth can reduce costs, protect its lakes and green spaces, and prepare for more extreme weather — from heavy rain events to summer heat. Clark has been a leading voice on the council in shaping this plan, which is expected to come before the council for adoption in August.
What's Next
As mayor, Clark will work to see the Climate Action Plan through adoption and into action — turning the plan's goals into real projects that save residents and the city money, protect Plymouth's lakes and natural areas, and help the community weather whatever comes next. That means continuing to build on the practical, money-saving steps Plymouth has already taken, and looking for the next ones: in buildings and energy, transportation, water, and our parks and green spaces.
Protecting the environment starts at home — but Plymouth can lead by example, showing residents and businesses that smart environmental choices are often good for the wallet too.
