Meet Clark

A Decade of Service to Plymouth

Clark's roots in Plymouth run deep. He and his wife, Jennifer, both grew up in Plymouth and Wayzata and attended Wayzata schools — and after college, they came back home to raise their family here. Today their kids attend Wayzata Public Schools, and Clark leads marketing strategy at a Fortune 500 financial services company.

Clark's civic involvement traces back to 2012, when he took part in Leadership Twin Cities, an experience exposed him to the myriad issues facing our community. It inspired him to get more involved, leading him, in 2017, to join Plymouth's Environmental Quality Committee — eventually serving as its chair and launching the Plymouth Environmental Academy to help residents reduce their environmental impact. From there, he served on the city's Charter Commission and Planning Commission, building a deep understanding of how Plymouth works at every level.

In 2022, Clark was elected to the Plymouth City Council as an at-large member. Since then, he's represented the council on the Environmental Quality Committee, the Hello! Plymouth DMO Advisory Board, and through the League of Minnesota Cities, where he's served on the Improving Service Delivery Policy Committee and the Housing Task Force. This year, Clark was selected by his council colleagues to serve as deputy mayor — and when the mayor went on medical leave, Clark stepped in to lead council meetings and fulfill the duties of the office during a critical period for the city.

Clark believes in continuous learning as much as service. He's a graduate of the Plymouth Public Safety Citizens Academy, the Hennepin County Academy, and Leadership Twin Cities — where he later served as co-chair and on the steering committee for over a decade. He's also a trained Climate Reality Project leader and a graduate of Hennepin County's Zero Waste Challenge. Clark holds a B.A. in Public Communication and Political Science from American University (2003) and an M.B.A. in Communication Management from Fordham University (2009).

Outside of city government, Clark has spent years giving back to his community — as president of his neighborhood association, as a board member of HIRED, and as a lifelong Scouting leader (he's an Eagle Scout himself, and Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop 570). When he's able, you'll find him singing in the choir at St. Philip the Deacon.
