And the Community That Made Them Possible

Deputy Mayor Clark Gregor and the Plymouth city council

Our city recently received some exciting news: Plymouth has been honored with multiple 2026 Best in Governance Awards from Polco, based on the feedback our own residents provided in last year’s National Community Survey. These awards are meaningful not because they come with a title, but because they come directly from the people who live and work here.

The recognitions include top marks in

  • Trust in Government (Excellence)

  • Health & Wellness (Excellence)

  • Education, Arts & Culture (Excellence)

  • Community Design (Excellence)

  • Mobility (Transformation)

If you’d like to read the full announcement and details from the city, you can find the press release here: City of Plymouth earns national recognition based on resident input.

As a council member, my role in achievements like these is small but important. We set a tone — for how we treat residents and businesses, for the expectations we set for ourselves and our organization, and for how we show up in conversations about the future of our community. Good governance starts with respect, transparency, and listening, and I’m proud that our residents recognized those values in the survey results.

At the same time, every award like this is both a celebration and a reminder: we always have room to improve. That’s why the survey matters so much. The thoughtful, sometimes challenging feedback from residents is what helps us do better. I’m grateful to everyone who took the time to share their experiences and insights. Your input is what drives transformation — including the significant improvement we saw in mobility ratings.

To the residents, businesses, community partners, and city staff who make Plymouth what it is: thank you. These recognitions reflect your contributions, expectations, and belief in what our city can be. And I look forward to continuing the work ahead — listening, learning, and striving to ensure Plymouth remains a place that truly adds quality to life.
