Plymouth’s Partnership with PUPS Continues to Grow

I was proud to join leaders from across the northwest metro as PUPS broke ground on a major expansion of our area's animal rescue shelter — a project that will strengthen an essential regional service Plymouth has partnered in for decades. (See CCX Media's story for more.)
Having toured the facility myself, I’ve seen firsthand the compassion, professionalism, and sheer dedication that go into caring for the animals who arrive there. I’ve also seen the space constraints staff navigate every day. This expansion isn’t just welcome — it’s needed.
PUPS provides safe, humane care for stray and lost animals from four cities, including Plymouth. Its no‑kill approach reflects the kind of community we strive to be: responsible, caring, and committed to doing the right thing.

The new 1,000‑square‑foot addition will modernize the shelter and create more room for dogs and cats in transition. A new outdoor behavior assessment and exercise yard will give animals more enrichment and time outside their kennels, improving both physical and mental wellbeing.
As our region grows, so does the importance of partnerships like this one. I'm grateful for the staff and volunteers who make PUPS such a trusted resource and for the shared values that continue to strengthen our community.
